When the crowd is gone

Just how great is a show in an empty stadium? How satisfying is the race with a deserted finish area? When no one is cheering you on, do your efforts even matter?

Motivation is easy when someone is watching. You’re a star with a cheering crowd. Acknowledgements feel great. That’s perfectly healthy.

Still, I submit that a tree DOES make a sound when it falls and no one is around to hear it. Likewise, I believe it does matter that you create your vision even when nobody is there to acknowledge it. The fact is that YOU are there – and you matter.

The value in creating isn’t in the external acknowledgements. It’s the deep core belief that what you create is essential in itself.

So, yes, the show IS great, the race IS satisfying, and your efforts DO matter.

Who are you being when the crowd is gone?
