This time last year, if anyone told you that you’d be where you are right now, would you have believed them? Several years ago, I started a personal tradition where I’d flip to a random day in next year’s calendar to write: “Where am I today?” Then I would completely forget about it.
When “the” day becomes “today”, I reflect on two things:
1) Where the heck has the time gone?? (as evidenced by more white hairs…)
2) How much closer am I to my goals? What has shifted?
How about you? Think back to this same date last year. Recall where you were and what was happening in your life. This may be painful. Or regretful. Or joyful. Or just blah.
We often lament: “If I only knew then what I know now.” That’s a perspective of regret. It’s a hard way to live your present and it robs your future.
What do you know now that you didn’t before? What if you take what you know now and channel it for the future you want? Try THAT on for size.
This time NEXT year, what do you want to remember most?
